Automation Today - 1-2010
Welcome to this edition of Automation Today
Despite the uncertainty regarding the shape and pace of the pending economic recovery, we believe that there are several emerging manufacturing technologies and automation trends that will help position our process industry customers for the global economic recovery.
Key to this is the combination of these technologies and trends...the convergence of control, power, communication and information; with the primary aims of greater efficiency, enhanced productivity and improved sustainability. By creating a truly integrated enterprise, companies can become agile enough to quickly adapt to the ever-changing needs of the markets they serve.
The process industry is awash with new developments and technologies, but in isolation they will only benefit small areas of the plant or operation. By taking a holistic view, and adopting an infrastructure that is designed to offer seamless integration and communication, we believe that many companies can emerge even stronger than they were before.
In this issue we demonstrate real-world examples where customers of ours and our partners, have reaped the rewards of a contemporary approach to their operations – be it through software, hardware, services, or indeed a combination of all three. The case studies show that there are always opportunities to improve processes, machines and procedures, but only a holistic approach will have such an impressive impact across your entire enterprise.
If you have any comments or questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
